Fall-Vata

In Ayurveda, summer is normally associated with the characteristics of Pitta. During Fall, the characteristics of the Vata are more present, as the weather becomes cooler and dryer, Vata, which is connected to the elements of air and space, is more prominent. Since Vata is the most prominent of the three doshas (It controls blood flow, elimination of wastes, breathing) it is important it is kept balanced.

How do you know if you're inclined towards a Vata constitution?

We tend to have characteristics of all 3 doshas but we may notice that some are more prominient.

Vata is associated with Creativity ~ Enthusiasm ~ Freedom ~ Generosity ~ Joy ~ Vitality. Vata is reflected in those that are creative, imaginative, quick to learn and grasp new knowledge, but also quick to forget. They are the lightest of the three body types, tend to talk quickly, are lively, energetic, have high energy in short bursts; tendency to tire easily and to overexert.

How to balance the change to Fall?

-Eat warm, grounding foods such as avocado, mango, grapes, sweet potatoes, peas, beets, carrots, eggplant, squash, peppers, green beans.
- Nuts, eggs, white fish
- Drink warm liquids (decaffeinated), spice teas (ginger, cinnamon) and warm water.
- Yoga (of course) will help keep you balanced
