This week at the Studio

It was an awesome day at the YMCA Connexions conference. I'm always impressed with the calibre of the guest presenters at these sessions & this year was no exception. Carol Murphy conducted a great sessions on group core training and PUSH-group strength training from Reebok. The Kick Butt Boot Camp was incredible.

Zumba this week is a new set!! One word, 4 syllables-Energetic.

In Fitness Kickboxing-sets involving the elbow punch and the new kicks (front toe kick), rear knee roundhouse and of course, duck! Again, with the more advanced kick combinations, they are not for everyone - go back to basic kick combinations at anytime.

Thanks for the great feedback regarding conquering ardha chandrasana last week! It is the pose for March and it was so great to see so many of you use the wall to help conquer this pose-it works and most importantly re-enforces the issues involving alignment in this pose and preventing twisting of the spine as you move into this asana.

Fit Tip of the week:

I found out the hard way that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Skip it and the results are (a) bad nutritional decisions throughout the day (b) low blood sugar and (c) lower metabolism. Eat breakfast. It boosts your energy, metabolism and mental focus. Plus, breakfast eaters consume fewer calories throughout the day than people who skip this meal.

My favourite breakfasts: plain yogurt (I love Balkan style) with fruit, walnuts and flax seeds and dried fruit. Old fashioned oats with dried fruit and nuts.

Have a safe and healthy week
